Anne first began playing the violin at the age of 6. She spent the next 12 years studying both classical violin and fiddle/bluegrass music; exploring various methods of study and instruction, including traditional learning techniques and Suzuki. Once she married and moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, Anne began teaching violin at Lynchburg Music Center. She taught violin lessons, music theory and was the Assistant Director of Education from 2005 until 2010. Anne left the music center to concentrate on her family, but has continued teaching private violin lessons in her own studio. Anne is absolutely thrilled to be bringing her love of the violin to ESA and to share her passion with a new batch of interested students. She began dancing at age five, studying a variety of dance genres throughout her training, including ballet, jazz, tap, modern, partnering, and pointe. She has trained with the Universal Ballet Academy, the American Ballet Theatre, and Virginia School of the Arts. Kristen has performed in several classical ballets including The Nutcracker (Clara, Snow Queen, Sugar Plum Fairy), Sleeping Beauty (Lilac Fairy), and Cinderella (Summer). She was also the lead role in several performances with Ecclesia, including Moses in “Deliver Us,” the Nazi Captain in “Hiding Place, the Story of Corrie ten Boom,” and the Father in “The Prodigal Son.” As an alumna, Kristen had been blessed with opportunities to choreograph Liberty University Theatre productions, including “Carousel” and “South Pacific”. She has experience in ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, tap, lyrical, and is currently involved in Afro-Caribbean dance with Kuumba Dance Ensemble. In her years of training, she has found a desire to worship Jesus through the arts. Since becoming a dance instructor, and childcare provider elsewhere, she has grown in her passion to connect with her students, create a safe space for them, and help them feel loved and valued. Alyssa Edwards is from Midlothian, Virginia and has been dancing for over 17 years. She has competed at many dance competitions and taken master classes from many artists. She was a member of Stavna Youth ballet and performed in the Snow White ballet. She also has danced many roles in The Nutcracker. Alyssa graduated from Thomas Dale High School Specialty Center for the Arts, and participated in musicals, and choreographed pieces in showcases. Her favorite memory was being able to go to New York and take dance classes from professional artists. Alyssa has taken many different genres of Dance, however, her favorites are ballet and modern. Currently, Alyssa is a sophomore at Liberty University and is studying to be a respiratory therapist. Her dance career began at the young age of two training in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and modern. She enjoyed dancing competitively as a child but when she was introduced to theatre, she never looked back. Since then she has had the best of both worlds, combining both dance and acting, by pursuing musical theatre. Some of her favorite acting credits include Tess in Crazy For You, Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street. Abby has taught various styles of dance in her high school years and continued to do so throughout her college career. Not having the privilege of studying in a Christian studio growing up, she is excited to cultivate a Christ-like culture rather than the cutthroat and comparative mentality she endured. As she creates her own teaching method, Abby has a passion for encouraging students in a godly way. Sharing these gifts with the next generation of dancers is an honor and she is so blessed to have yet another opportunity to pour into the lives of these students. Her passion for movement began when she was placed in dance classes at the age of 3. Taylor has trained in various styles such as ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, tap and hip-hop. Her love of dance meshed with her favor of teaching when she began coaching dancers at the age of 16. She stuck true to that path as she danced and choreographed for dance competitions until she enrolled at Liberty University. At LU, Taylor serves as a Captain of Hip-Hop Ministry Dance Crew, D-Trex as well as a member of Lynchburg Dance Connection. Some of her notable choreographies since entering college include D-Trex Dance Crew’s Liberty University Coffeehouse performances, Lynchburg Dance Connection Showcases, and Julian Kim’s “Hands Up” music video and live concerts.
